What is Zika Fever?

It is a viral disease spread by the Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, which causes fever, rashes, joint pain, and red eyes.

What are the symptoms of Zika?

About 1 in 5 people infected with the virus will become ill. Most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain or conjunctivitis (red eyes). Other symptoms are muscle pain and headaches. The incubation period is between a few days and a week. Illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting a few days to a week. The virus can remain in your blood for a week after infection.

We sell the CDC-recommended repellents to help Avoid mosquito bites. Use DEET on sun-exposed skin and apply Permethrin on clothing. Zika is from daytime biting mosquitoes. Avoid unprotected sex with someone who has been to the Zika region as the virus can be spread by sexual contact.

Treatment:

There is no treatment or vaccine for Zika. Treat the symptoms with rest, fluid to prevent dehydration, take Tylenol for the fever or body aches. DO NOT take ASPIRIN or other NSAID’s like Advil or Aleve.
